HOW SOLAR PANELS WORK
Solar panels are devices that harness the power of the sun to generate electricity. The process by which solar panels work involves several steps that convert sunlight into usable energy.
Photovoltaic Effect Solar panels use photovoltaic cells, which are made of semiconductor materials such as silicon. When sunlight strikes these cells, it excites the electrons in the atoms of the material, causing them to be released from their atoms.
Electron Flow: The excited electrons flow through the material, creating an electric current. This flow of electrons is directed by an electric field within the solar cell, which is created by the different layers of the semiconductor material.
Energy Conversion: The flowing electrons generate direct current (DC) electricity. However, most household appliances and electrical systems operate on alternating current (AC). To convert the DC electricity into AC electricity, an inverter is used.
Power Distribution: Once the DC electricity is converted to AC electricity, it can be used to power various appliances and devices in homes and businesses. Excess electricity generated by the solar panels can be stored in batteries for later use or fed back into the grid.
Net Metering: In many places, a system called net metering is in place, which allows solar panel owners to receive credit for excess electricity they generate. If a solar panel system generates more electricity than is consumed, the excess is sent back to the grid and the owner receives a credit on their electricity bill.
Off-Grid Systems: In some cases, solar panels are used in off-grid systems where there is either no access to the grid or it is more cost-effective to be independent of the grid. In these systems, the electricity generated by the solar panels is stored in batteries and used as needed.
Solar panels have the potential to provide clean and renewable energy. They can be installed on rooftops or in large solar farms, taking advantage of the sun's energy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Continual advancements in solar panel technology are making them more efficient and cost-effective, contributing to their widespread adoption as a sustainable energy solution.
SOLAR POWER HAS EMERGED AS AN EFFECTIVE & ECO-FRIENDLY SOLUTION FOR REDUCING ENERGY BILLS.
Harnessing the abundant power of the sun, rather than using the earths dwindling fossil fuel resources. If you have a roof space on a domestic or commercial property, then you can harness the potential of this space to generate an income
By installing solar panels, individuals can generate their own electricity, reducing dependency on traditional energy sources. Unlike conventional electricity, which relies on fossil fuels and is subjected to the fluctuations of the market, solar energy is a renewable resource. As long as the sun exists so will solar power.
